February is the perfect time to get out and discover all there is to love about nature at Pottawattamie County Conservation’s brand new public programs, Families Love Nature & Sweethearts Love Nature. These unique programs are sure to conjure up the Valentine’s Day spirit in everyone.
Folks of all ages are invited to join us on Saturday, February 11th for Families Love Nature, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Join us for a fun filled afternoon of crafts & activities, a guided nature hike with one of our naturalists & s’mores! To make sure we have enough staff and supplies we are asking everyone to please pre-register for this event. You can register by phone at 712-545-3283 or you can register your family online in minutes at www.mycountyparks.com. Don’t miss this fantastic new event.

We are also holding a couples event, Sweethearts Love Nature, that very same day! Couples are invited to enjoy a quiet evening at the park on Saturday, February 11th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Take in the beauty of the Loess Hills Lodge at night as you enjoy a roaring fire and s’mores. A special guided night hike will be led by one of our naturalists to show you the wonders of Hitchcock Nature Center at night, or, if you are the adventurous type, try a quiet hike just for two along a special lit trail. We are asking attendees to register for this event in advance as space is limited. You can register by phone at 712-545-3283 or you can register online in minutes at www.mycountyparks.com.
Both of these events are free to attend but guests will need to have a valid Pottawattamie County Parks annual permit or purchase a $2.00 per vehicle daily entrance pass. Daily entrance passes can be purchased at the front gate with cash or check on the day of the event or you can stop by the Loess Hills Lodge Welcome Desk during regular business hours to pick up your annual permit.
