Hitchcock Nature Center - Everyone is welcome to join in the fun with the new Hitchcock Nature Center Insect Club at their fourth meeting of the season, August 23rd. The pre-meeting hike begins at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. You do not have to attend the hike to attend the meeting.

The August meeting's educational program will be announced soon.

This brand new organization combines learning with volunteering as insect enthusiasts gather together in Iowa's Loess Hills. Meeting the fourth Thursday of the month May through September this club provides a new opportunity for those with an interest in insects. Each meeting will include discussing club business, presenting a "featured insect" and a presentation or educational program.

All club meetings are open to the public, attendees under 16 must be chaperoned by an adult during meetings & other events.

Attendees are not required to become a club member to attend meetings. If you wish to become an official member of the Hitchcock Nature Center Insect Club you will become a Pottawattamie County Conservation Volunteer & must complete a volunteer application, including a background check, and submit all required paperwork. In addition to attaining volunteer status club members will also receive information on additional club related events such as pre-meeting walkabouts, local day trips, and regional multi-day trips.

Attendees who do not wish to become official members are always welcome to join in at the meetings. Non-club member attendees must purchase a $3.00 per vehicle daily entrance pass or have a Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation membership to attend club meetings. Daily entrance passes may be purchased with exact change or check at the front gate and may be purchased the day of the event. Annual memberships start at $20.00 per year and may be purchased from staff at any of our parks, at the front gate, or at the Loess Hills Lodge at Hitchcock Nature Center during regular business hours. Annual memberships may also be purchased online at www.pottawattamieconservationfoundation.com. There is no additional fee to attend club meetings, free will donations are always accepted to support continued programming.

This event is not pet friendly, please leave your dogs at home. Service animals are always welcome.

Weather permitting.
