Conservation Day Camps!

Our Staff
Pottawattamie County Conservation Summer Day Camp staff includes our full-time professional environmental educators, Tina, Kelly and Regina, as well as intern naturalists whose enthusiastic love for nature and teaching is contagious. Our camp leaders thrive on the joys and challenges of teaching about the amazing facets of nature through hands-on creative and fun activities.

Our general camper to staff ratio is 16 campers to 2 staff. Our preschool camp ratio is 4 campers to 1 staff. These ratios do not include additional volunteer staff. The number of campers is limited to ensure a fun learning experience. At least one teacher in each group is 21 or older (even though we might not look it!) and each group has at least one instructor trained in CPR and First Aid.

Pottawattamie County Conservation Summer Day Camps are designed to encourage hands-on learning through outdoor explorations, hiking, activities, crafts, games and more. We offer camps at Hitchcock Nature Center and Arrowhead Park.

KinderNature Preschool Day Camps are designed for children ages 3- 5 years old (who have not completed Kindergarten). They are offered bi-monthly in a six-week summer series. The day long camps last from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A daily snack and drink are provided for all ages.

Hitchcock Nature Center Day Camps are geared for children who have completed Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and/or 5th grades. The 3 day camps are from 9:00 – 1:00 p.m. Each child must bring a sack lunch each day. A daily snack and drink are provided for all ages.

Arrowhead Park Day Camps are designed for children who have completed 4th and/or 5th grades. The 3 day camp is from 9:00 – 1:00 p.m. Each child must bring a sack lunch each day and a daily snack and drink are provided for all ages.

Discovery Camp	K & 1st grades	June 15-17	Cost: $60.00 per camper
	or	July 6-8
Explorers Camp	2nd & 3rd grades	June 22-24	Cost: $60.00 per camper
	or	July 27-29
(participants may also register for the Arrowhead Voyager Camp)

Arrowhead Park Neola, IA:
Voyagers Camp	4th & 5th grades	June 8-10	Cost: $60.00 per camper
(participants may also register for the Hitchcock Nature Center Voyager Camp)
