Special Events

Public Programs currently held at Hitchcock Nature Center Include:

Hitch Hikes- A series of nature hikes designed to introduce visitors to Hitchcock and the Loess Hills.

Early Bird Walks- Led by area bird enthusiasts, these walks will explore bird identification and invite visitors to enoy the colorfull display of spring species

Halloween Hike- Wear your costumes and bring little ones for a special Halloween trail at Hitchcock.

Night Sky Series- Led by members of the Omaha Astronomical Socity, observe the night sky from a Loess Hills ridge top.



Hawk Watch- keep your eyes on the skies for migrating raptors! The annual fall HawkWatch festivals will include live hawk demonstrations from Raptor Recovery NE, hikes in the hills, childrens activities, and refreshments.

Monarch Tagging- attend Hitchcock's annual September Monarch Tagging event and learn all about these fascinating creatures.
Participants will learn how to tag monarchs and have the opportunity to catch and tag them in the wild.

Owl Prowl Night Hike- Give a hoot and Join us for a nighttime hike to learn about these nocturnal creatures. These evening hikes include owl calling & more!
